Can you imagine being a regular kid for one day, and in the next, you find out you are a son of a Greek god?
I will be presenting The Lightning Thief. It is written by Rick Riordan, and it is a fiction, adventure story with mythology, lots of sword fighting, and a bit of mystery.
Percy Jackson was living a regular life, well regular if you don’t count getting kicked out of every school he goes to, or his ADHD and dyslexia. But one day on a field trip, he gets in trouble and is lectured by Mrs. Dodd’s, his math teacher. She takes him to a quiet room and suddenly, she turns into a demon and tries to kill him! He soon finds out that he’s living in a world of gods and monsters and the gods are about to start a war that will leave many people dead. Can he use his talents to stop the war and bring peace among the gods?
Some of the main characters are:
Percy Jackson: The main character
Sally Jackson: She is Percy Jackson’s mom
Annabeth: She is a greek demigod and one of Percy Jackson’s companions on the quest to bring peace to the gods
Grover: He is Percy Jackson’s best friend and the other companion on the quest
Chiron: He is a Percy Jackson’s survival teacher. He is a centaur
I think the lesson or theme that the author wants to present in the book is loyalty. I think it is loyalty because Percy will do anything for his friends even if it means death. That is why I think it is loyalty.
I liked The Lightning Thief because of all the fighting, and adventure in it. That makes the book more thrilling and suspenseful. I like the way the author combines the world and gods together and the the main character is a son of a greek god. I would suggest it if you like fighting, mystery, and mythology.
